Part One: For Refugees

  1. Initial Eligibility Check:
  • You must be recognized as a refugee by UNHCR or the Turkish Immigration Office (Göç İdaresi).
  • You must have a financial contributor to cover the cost of your sponsorship. Exception for LGBTQ+ refugees: If you are part of the LGBTQ+ community but have not been recognized as a refugee by UNHCR or Göç İdaresi, you may still be eligible under a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH). The sponsorship costs may vary in these cases, so please contact us for further details.
  • Prohibited Contributions: You are not allowed to contribute directly or indirectly to the sponsorship cost. Examples of prohibited contributions include:
    • The funds cannot be borrowed.
    • Refugees cannot promise to repay the financial contributor, either through work or in-kind exchanges.
    • Refugees cannot indirectly pay the funds to someone else who then covers the sponsorship.

Important Warning: If IRCC or the Marjan Foundation finds out that you have contributed in any way, your application will be suspended, and the funds might be blocked.

  1. Starting the Process:
  • Sign up on the Marjan Foundation portal, complete the necessary forms, upload all required documents, and submit your application through the portal.
  • All forms are available to download on our portal. There is also a guide available with a link to our YouTube channel that explains how to complete the forms. Please note, all forms must be completed in English.
  1. Application Review and Process:
  • The Marjan Foundation will review your application. If any corrections or additional documents are needed, we will contact you through the portal. Once all requirements are met, your application will be submitted to IRCC.
  • You can track the progress of your application on the portal.
  1. Waiting for Processing:
  • After submission, IRCC will handle the processing of your application. You should wait for IRCC to process it, as there is no guaranteed timeline, and it may vary depending on various factors.
  • All updates and communications will be available in your portal.
  • There is no need to contact us or book an appointment to discuss your case. If we follow up with IRCC, any responses will be visible on your portal.
  • In most cases, nothing can expedite the process. Legal or health situations typically do not affect IRCC’s processing time. In fact, these issues may negatively impact the application and delay the process.

Part Two: For Financial Contributors

  1. Required Funds and Responsibilities:
  • You can find detailed information about sponsorship costs on our website. These funds must be a donation, and you cannot expect repayment from the refugee.
  • Prohibited Contributions: The refugee cannot contribute to the sponsorship costs, either directly or indirectly. Examples include:
    • The funds cannot be borrowed to the refugee.
    • The refugee cannot promise to repay you through work or other means.
    • The refugee cannot use a third party to cover the sponsorship cost on their behalf.

Important Warning: If IRCC or the Marjan Foundation finds out that the refugee contributed to the sponsorship, the application will be suspended, and the funds might be blocked.

  1. Proof of Payment and Agreements:
  • The funds should be deposited into the Marjan Foundation’s bank account, and you can find our banking information on our website.
  • Once the deposit is made, you must email the receipt to the foundation and provide it to the refugee so they can upload it as part of their application on the portal. Without this document, the refugee will not be able to submit their application.
  • Upon receipt of the refugee’s application, the Marjan Foundation will prepare the necessary documentation for you to sign and confirm.
  1. Refund Policy:
  • If the application is rejected by IRCC, the remaining funds, after deducting necessary costs, will be returned to you.
  • If the application is withdrawn for any reason, you will also receive a refund after the deduction of applicable fees.
  • To find out about the necessary costs that will be deducted, visit the “Cost of Sponsorship” page on our website.
